There are only slight differences. The best box for adding crossover sterring to a solid axle truck is the early box. The sector shafts on the early boxes are stronger. It's also a smaller box than the later models and it costs less.
We carry the later box for those that have a 89 and later truck and want to replace their stock box. The early box is shorter than the later box and the steering staft won't easily bolt up. If you just want to replace the stock box on a later truck and you just want it to bolt up, it's the right part for the job.
Both boxes bolt to the frame in the same way.

how much for just the greasable joints??? I have the old All Pro non greasables and they are wearin out.

I'll take some measurements in the morning and post them up. As I recall it's about 1" longer.

Measuring from the center line (casting mark) on the face of the box to the end of the input steering shaft the old style is 6" and the new style is 7" so there is only one inch difference between the two.
