To crawl you need:
35" or larger tires
5" Suspension lift with highsteer
Bumpers & rock sliders
drive shafts
Crossmember
Detroit Lockers
That will get you started.
Start with bumpers and sliders
Then gears & lockers
Then suspension/crawler/crossmember

Yes that the perfect order of modification...
1. Start with bumpers and sliders to protect your sheet metal while its still straight.
2. Then gears & lockers + larger tires so you can get into more trouble and use #1.
3. Then suspension to get it up above those larger tires and help it flex more.
4. Crawler, drive lines & crossmember to slow it down enough to stop bangin' your junk on every rock on the trail.
Good luck Crucial

Well steps 2 and 3 could be swapped. Unless you want to do gears and tires twice you'd have to lift first.

I would buy a Detroit Locker for the rear and get out there and wheel until you find yourself getting stuck often or you don't have enough clearance or gearing to complete the obstacles you are trying. Then I would upgrade the rest to suit what you plan to do with your truck.
I would upgrade your birfs whenever you lock up your front axle on 35s or you will wish you had when you break on the trail and dampen a good trip.
You will notice the biggest change in the way you wheel when you add a locker. The second biggest change I noticed was when I installed my 4.7 Tcase gears.

For me it was the opposite. With the 4.7 t-case I don't use my lockers half as much.

I run Detroits so I don't have the option to "not use" them. I am sure what you say is true but i don't run selectables ie ARB, E- lockers, etc.

I would go with gears and lockers first. So that you are locked up to go anywhere, Then a lift to put those 40 inch tires under, armour last, a toyota truck body is a tempary thing in rock crawling, so don't spend to much time and money trying to save it. just let nature take its course.
Besides, chic's love body damage.

This sounds like the best thing to do
