Is there enough slip in the stock steering shaft to compensate when the steering box is moved forward? Thanks...

On some models there is a pin to knock out and you can slide the shaft out. On others you have to cut and sleave the shaft.

It also depends on how far you are going to move it forward.

My front axle is moved 3" forward and the steering box is cut into the body mount. There was still plenty of adjustment in the steering shaft after punching out the pin.

I believe that the shaft from an IFS truck is longer as well, or at least it's longer than the ones on the 1st gen trucks.

I used the shaft from an 88 4Runner on my 85 truck. The axle is 3" fwd and the box is in the body mount. I drilled out the pin (nylon?) to make it long enough.
