View Full Version : Inboarding rear springs
I'm going to be putting a Samurai body on an '88 4-Runner frame and will be using the Trail Gear Classic front and rear suspension kits. With the lighter body I'm thinking I will inboard the rear springs just inside the frame rails to aid flex. It's going to be a trail rig that will be street driven from time to time. Anyone running theirs this way? If so are there any handling issues? TC

We run our Formula Toy with the rear springs inboarded. It's a little less stable but not real bad even at speed.
With such a light rig, I would remove the shortest leaf from each pack to make the springs a little more flexable.
Thanks Chris. I'll be using the 22R from my '83 and moving it back some but will have a winch up front. I will probably start out with the full pack on the front and see how it sets. BTW, What are the F-toys weighing in at wet? TC

Trail ready they are around 2800 lbs. We run ours with one leaf removed and find it's working well.
