I seriously resisted the urge to post this in the classifieds, but why is it that sellers get flamed time after time for selling items for a few more bucks than what similar items have gone for at one time or another?? Has no one ever been to a swap meet or a yard sale??
Say a part sells for $150 in California. It could be a local seller or a distance sale with shipping, the 150 is just for the part. I know if I am looking at buying a similar part but know that freight shipping will cost me 100 to 150 and I will be buying it sight unseen, I may consider paying 350 or so to get it locally. Especially if it is a major part such as an engine, rear end, tcase, etc. There have been several times when I have paid 25 to 50 percent more for parts to get them local simply for the fact that I can:
1 - see the part before the money leaves my hand
2 - meet the seller
3 - have the part on the day of purchase
4 - reduce the potential for getting scammed
Most people who sells parts aren't doing it because they can't pay the rent, they are doing it to make room in the garage or fund a project. So what is the problem with asking more for an item to leave room for negotiation or convenience buyers??
If you don't like the price, don't buy it. Don't post up a negative comment and scare off potential buyers. Let the sale run its course, if it doesn't sell then the price will probably get lowered.
Sorry, I had to vent ... <stepping off soapbox>
