It's time to order the SAS for the '88 Runner. It has the 3.0 and AT that will eventually be replaced with the 3.4 V6. I generally run pretty well loaded - winch, camping gear, etc. I'll be running 35 inch tires and some fender trimming is OK, and of course I want full articulation and a low center of gravity.

Question: What springs would you suggest for the SAS and rear kits.

Thanks in advance!

I think I would do 5" springs front and rear. You are going to have a heavy load there and you are going to need some extra clearance under the oil pan. You may find that you will need to modify the pan to clear the tie rod. You will also need to relocate the oil cooler for the auto tranny. The factory put it right where the front right shackle goes.

We now have a truck load of 5 inch leaf springs in stock. :D

Thanks for the quick response, Chris! And the update, John! I'll get my order in quickly - before you run out again . . .

Just out of curiosity, will I need to trim much sheetmetal to clear the 35s?

For 35's all you need to do is hammer the fender seem down flat.
