Nice rig. I have a question about your rear axle. Did you use a modified axle with the diff offset to the side or just use it stock? Did you have to deal with drive shaft vibrations or did the extra wheel base make that easier? Do you have any driveshaft problems at speed on the freeway?

For the rear driveline I used a stock toyota front CV driveline. with adaptes made by Rockrat on POR. The rig is registered off road only so i haven't had it at hwy speeds but i've had it at about 40 mph. it seemed ok but my drivelines arn't balanced. The coulple people i know that have this same set up say they don't have any bad vibes.
The driveline angle isn't bad but yeah i think the extra wheelbase helped.
I guess I can fall into the Sammy catagory depending on what event I want to attend  . I'm building a 4Runner frame and will be putting a Zuk body on it.
Q for ya, do you know of a source other than the Dealer for Samurai sheetmetal? Specifically quarter panels for a LWB. I've searched 'til my fingers bleed and haven't had any luck. TC

I've been lurking.
1987 sami
-about 4" semi custom coil lift + virtual lift
-shaved toyota axles
-4.10 gears -locked
-Sky Mfg hi-steer
-Longfields
-rear disc brakes
-rear full floater
-34x9 swampers, 35" beadlocked MTR's
-FJ60 steering
-16v 1.6 engine
-automatic transmission
-Kicker3 doubler

hello guys, In South America there are many zuki'addicts.
In my country there are varied terrains: Larged Dunes, Mountains, Rocks and much Mud... In the north there are many vehicles with turbo and nitro prepared for sand, in the south many v8's with large tires, and a few years ago are being prepared vehicles for rocks, especially Toyota's and Suzuki's.
Many thanks to Trail-Gear, soon send them Chilean wine.

Im a sami guy but you already know me from other forums, are rigs are very alike cept for I run a sidekick 4 speed auto, and a 1.6 16 valve FI, and I have an exo cage, Chris I also have never had a vibration problem and I use to cruise the freeway every day till my second rollover :( the wife cut that fun short, kris we need to wheel together I just live in cedar hills (holding my breath for af canyon to open) we go out almost every weekend, call me 801 427 8759, or check me out on the other sites we have a sweet club just getting started "rockaholics anonymous" check us out www.ra4x4.org arent you sellin your rig? we better go wheelin soon then before its gone!
hey there newbie to the forum.
I traded my 4 door kick for a sammy project.... was in need of more work than initially thought.
'89 samurai with spring over, Sky's off road YJ kit, not installed trailgear 6.5's and stronger front output, centerforce clutch, alot of rust and some bad wiring!
this weeks project is to put the 6.5's in and clean up the tcase, weld some stergth to the tcase arms and some better mounts.
then its on to the rear diff with a welder! need to fix the traction bar it won't bolt up after the YJ springs.
Hope to get some pics up soon of it not in the garage!!!

i miss my sami i had 2 88's one for wheelin one for parts i spent more on a cheap spoa kit than i did on the 2 sami's combined i took the diffs out welded them tight mounted a free set set of 32 swampers and wheeled it HARD for two years barely ever needin a part i didnt have on the parts rig. rolled it over than 2 of us righted it by hand poured some oil in it bent the pass door straight by hand and wheeled on.......finally i found this 854runner sold the sami...spent 10 times the money buildin it up....have had WAY more problems and cause of the high dollar content worry too much about damagin my $10 grand 4runner on the trail!!!........did i mention i miss my $800 sami?????????
