So from the image on TGTV it appears that the case is clocked? Is this how the production unit will be?
Possibly an update on price and release date?

Chris Geiger
05-14-2006, 08:24 PM
Both standard and clocked versions are in the works. The standard unit will be released first and the cast rotated version will follow shortly. Trail-Gear dual adapters will be aviable this summer. Prices have not been set.

It looks like they will be about 6 weeks out.

Are you developing a bolt-in crossmember for the clocked version of your adaptor?

Chris Geiger

Not at this time. You would need to make someting custom to take advantage of the rotated adapter.

Will the rotated adaptor be offered as a less expensive cast version or are these going to be fully machined/billet only? Will they be rotated any more than 10 degrees or is this an inherent limitation for clocking a Toyota case?

Will the adaptors be made in the USA or imported?

Other than on the business end (customer service, price, etc), what will your adaptors have to offer that will set them apart from traditional designs?

Will any parts be included with your adaptors that are not currently included with other adaptors on the market? For example, unlike your competitors, you offer axle service kits with your SAS kits. Will similar overhaul parts be a part of your adaptor set? Or are you going to offer package pricing on adaptors with crossmembers, speedo extension, etc?

Will Trail Gear adaptors have a lifetime warranty?

Why is this important? Have you asked this question of other vendors? If so what was the responce?

Ten degrees of rotation is the limit given the shift forks going through the front of the case. We will not be manufacturing billet adapters due to the high production costs. All of our dual adapters and housings will be of a cast design.

Packaging, pricing and warranty have not been set at this time. Details on our dual adapters will be released along with pricing just prior to availability.

No I have not asked this question of other vendors, but that is because I have not seen an interest in producing an affordable cast clocked adaptor by anyone else.

I know most of the products I buy aren't made in the USA, but I would prefer that they were. And if they aren't, it's still nice to know where they come from.

I am not asking you where they are made so I can compare you to another vendor. In this case I am only curious. I think that if Trail Gear came out with an affordable clocked adaptor of their own design, I would strongly consider buying it.

I do not feel the same way about carry over products, as I'm sure you are aware. But I did not come onto this forum to pick fights. I always look forward to seeing innovative new products for Toyotas and I hope to see some come through your doors in the near future.

Thanks, I wasn't aware.

I am glad to hear this. It is beyond me why a company that's been in the business as long as you-know-who would still be making adaptors from billet.

Our standard rotation adapter will be first on the market, followed by the clocked adapter a few months later.

The adapters we will be making will not be made in the USA. FYI Advanced Adapters is the only cast adapter made in the USA that I know of. I believe that all of the Billit adapters currently on the market are also made in the USA. That is a major part of the high cost of these adapters.

Creating quality, affordable products is our priority. Our offerings will be competitive in terms of quality, reliability and price.

Personally, I find it very frustrating a vendor says "Made in the USA" and in fact they are not USA or only part of the item is made in the USA.

No matter were it comes from i'll break it. Some of us have the tallent of creation, I just happen to have the talent of distruction and if I can save a few bucks on the way to explosion then so be it. Have you driven a chevy latley?

I bet you can see these usa instead of import guys standing in line at walmart.

When this product comes out, are you getting a lot of them in the first batch? It sounds like there is a few people waiting for them.

TheBandit

Yes, I drive a Toyota that was designed and built in Japan, but I also own a Chevrolet that was designed and built in Michigan. I don't shop at WalMart - not because many of their products are made outside of the US, but because their customer service, cleanliness, and crowdedness aren't worth saving a few pennies. I do buy foreign goods all the time, but when it comes to tools and aftermarket parts, I am willing to spend more money on US companies and US manufactured products. I never said foreign parts were inferior. But there are good reasons to support US made products and it's everyone's right to know where the products they buy are being manufactured.

All that aside, I look forward to seeing these new adaptors hit the trails.

I find it amusing when the big three(GM, Dodge and Ford) outsource parts and assembly outside the us. Gotta love Mexico and Canada. "Mostly made in the America's" may be more appropriate for them.

"I do buy foreign goods all the time."
"....there are good reasons to support US made products..."
This, after asking if the parts for your Japanese truck will be made in the USA.
I'm sure I'm not the only one chuckling at this. Not busting yer chops Bandit, but take a step back and reread this thread, or have a buddy read it and see what they think. Ya might even get a little laugh out of it yourself.
