Ok, I have a 84 4Runner. The ride quality with the stock springs is horiable in my opinion. What kind of a improvement could I expect with diferent springs? Im considering rears up front, and Fords out back. depending on $, I might do aftermarket springs, most likely Trail gear.

My ultimate dream is Coils/ coil overs front and rear "Do it once, and do it Right". But thats alot of $ that I dont have. I'd also like to do most of the work my self and im nowhere near that point. Guess im going to have to work my way up the ladder.

Casey105's truck rides like a Cadillac with the T-G 4". His truck is light.

I have the TG 4" springs front and rear. The front definately rides better than the rear. Definately wouldn't say it rides anything like a Cadillac. It's pretty stiff but not harsh. Ride is stiffer than my old IFS.

Keep in mind Casey105 has 5 or 6 HARD runs on his. Cadillac was a joke. But it is a good ride.

Well, all these answers are great... but thats not exactly what Im looking for. Would my cheap route, Rears/ Fords be better then stock as far as ride? I sure the aftermarket 1's will be, No question there. Another question about the ride, when navigating speed bumps, with the rears/Fords and or the Aftermarket springs, would I still need to go 1 mile to cross a speed bump? As it is now I need to go that slow as to not knock out a filling.

its also depends on what kind of shock you run. i drove my truck with out shocks after the swap i thougt it drove like crap but with the bilstein shocks on it drives totaly differnt, so if you have cheaper spring but with good shock absorbers it should be alright in my opinion

No , you will not see much improvement with the chevy or the ford springs. They are made for a vehicle much heavier then a Toyota, besides they are already broken in to the desing and weight of another vehicle. I think we have all ran chevy rears and put or rears up front, it will work in a pinch, and its better then stock, but not comparable to after market springs taht are designed just for your application. Not to mention that a set of raer springs new, shipped to your door are only $299.00 with new bushings. Its hard to beat that with a set of junk yard springs.

Guess I'll have to save a little more.

A couple of more dollars in this case makes a million dollars worth of difference.
