View Full Version : Tin Bender Jamboree

The Trail-Gear crew will be leading the Sledge Hammer run at the Tin Bender Jamboree. Come on out and join us for a run! Come meet Matt Messer, John Robertson, Chris Dunbar and myself. We will also have a grip of prizes for the Saturday night raffle. We will be camping near the Tin Bender camp, just look for the Trail Creeper flags! Trail-Gear feels this is the most important run of the year because all funds raised will go to keeping the trails open. Of special interest is the ongoing legal fight to reopen Surprise Canyon.

To sign up go here...
http://www.tinbenders.org/trp.php

Info about the run:

The 2007 "Tin Bender Jamboree" will be re formatted into a new and exciting weekend. With the introduction of the "Johnson Valley Action Coalition" we are proud to host the first annual "Johnson Valley Cleanup". This fun filled weekend will be held April 28th., 2007 and will include the same format as the previous Jamboree's with trail sign ups and a broad range of wheeling.

This year our event is FREE. The reason is that we can no longer afford the time and cost associated with working with the BLM, on the many different items (such as permits and insurance) that an "event" requires. We are also focusing on making the Johnson Valley OHV area a cleaner, more pleasurable place to recreate. We will offer a similar format as prior jamborees but each trail run participant will be responsible for the cleanup of a specific area within Johnson Valley. Though trail sign ups are not mandatory, we ask that you do, so that we may insure that we are efficient in our cleanup efforts.

We plan to serve dinner to the participants after the cleanup like always, but this year we will rely on cash donations to cover this expense and others like the rental of porta-pottys.

As always, any extra money will be donated to FOPV or other organizations in the fight to keep trails open.

In addition to the old format, this year we will be turning over the keys to this years winner of the Formula Toyota Turn-Key Competition Rock Crawler we are currently raffling. We will still be providing the same services this year such as portable toilets, trash service and dinner on Saturday Evening.

ok...honestly some of you guys are freaking me out...should i try to break my turd in on this trip, or what? I honestly don't know what my truck is capable of...i just got it running this weekend, and i'll only go if someone provides me trailer space LOL. j/k, but seriously...i would like to check this out

ok...how would i sign up. I signed up for the forums, but when i enter the email and password, it says it's invalid. is that a differant signup that's required? do i have to put all that personal information in to sign up? Help a confused man out here

ok...i was just looking over there and it said i need lockers front and rear and i will need a winch...hopefully things change soon to my truck so that i'll meet the requirements. by the way, anyone have pictures of those trails?

Chris Geiger

Check out the event photos of us on Sledge Hammer last year....

http://www.trail-gear.com/events/2006-new-years/index.html

The sign up process is not hard, but you do have to replay to the email before you are active. Once you are active you can sign up for runs. If you go with us on Sledge you won't need a winch, I'll get you through it!

Also if you go on our run your likely to be in the TGTV episode after the event.

You will need lockers front and rear.

hrmm...better break out my welder for the that carrier LOL...hopefully i'll have my drop-ins before then. I might even have a winch, but without a bumper it's hard to mount one :(

so if i don't sign up and show up, i can't wheel? I replied to the email they sent immediately it's weird. maybe i should post a couple of posts first and try again

Anyone with lockers, 37" tires, crossover steering and some kind of tcase reduction is welcome with our group. Even if your not able to sign up, we will take care of you and see you through. Your not the only one having problems with the sign up.

Loki
02-20-2007, 05:06 PM
well...hopefully i can get this tcase and gears done so i can slap in an adapter....i'd be running dual 2.28's and 5.71's for that run unless i somehow get 2300 for drop-ins or find a local deal

Assuming you have the basics, crossover steering, 35 or larger tires and lockers you welcome to come along with us. A lot of people are having problems with the sign up. Just come out and be ready to have lots of fun!

Chris, do you know what time line up for the trails starts Sat am. I signed up for sledge and will be pulling an all nighter friday run from Modesto ( north of Fresno) to the lakebed to make this weekend. This is my first jambo and I am just wondering about where to go and where to meet once I get to the lakebed.
