not an owner, but I am the builder for my friends 69 cruiser.
it has fine spline axles with a detroit and lockright, shackle reversal with spoa on stock leaves, full custom internal family cage, stock drivetrain from a 71, 35" pro comp m't's on 2.5" bs 15x10 crawlers, custom front bumper with old style warn cruiser winch and stinger wuith a guard for the grille. custom home brew sliders. and racing buckets with 5 points are going in now.

what do you guys suggest for an under tub tank to get the under seat one takin out of the passenger compartment? he plans on running a 350/th350 or th400 with an atlas at some point. and swap out the rear axle for a center diff v-6 rear from a pickup.

I had an old Downey auxilliary tank, but it was so badly rusted that I had to do something different. I didn't know how to weld at the time, so I had a welder in my area copy the Downey tank out of 1/4" aluminum. I had the skid plate powder-coated and with a bit of dense foam between the body and the tank, as well as some all threads hanging down from the cross-member, I was able to snuggly mount the tank between the rear leaf springs and eliminate the interior tank. The new tank has a 22 gallon capacity and since it's aluminum...no rust issues. I purchased a filler neck kit from downey which mounts just behind the rear tire on the passenger side and and the hose goes between the body and frame. It all looks very clean and I've had no issues. I plan to use the existing fuel door/bay to mount a battery disconnect for a bit of added anti-theft security. I use the space under my passenger seat for the battery box now. Hope this info helps! ~A

There should be no issues with clearence as the front of the downey tank sits a few inches behind the rear axel, unless the wheelbase has been lengthened!

do all the 40series have the same size ring and pinion?

and when buying lower gear, we'll just mention the gear ratio needed?
