im building up my tacoma, ive used a lot of trail gear parts, as well as stuff from marlin crawler, poly performance and extremeaxles in new york state...
a 23 spline dual ultimate from marlin crawler and fox coilover shocks from poly performance as well as fox air bumpstops and some fancy battery trays
currently it is a 3 link front with a panhard and fox 16'' coilovers. the rear is trail gears 3'' lift springs and fox shocks. ive purchased trailgears rear link system to put on it in the future, but for now im running leafs out back as i didnt wanna tune in 4 coilover shocks at the same time(id get lost and frustrated for sure).
im also using trail gears 8'' hydro ram for steering, there ifs box mount(plate), 23 spline inputs to use a gear drive marlin dual ultimate. the axles are a srw chevy front 60 and a rear 70U(smooth bottom) of a ford dually. ill be doing a lot of street driving to work, the trails and normal camping so i went with 40 mtr's on black steel wheels. i plan to get a DIY beadlock kit in the future, but im so busy at work(overtime) and with my currnt fabwork on the truck that some things are getting put off for future projects.
i know there is a lot of bitching and opinions about 'ethics' regarding trail gear and there business practices, but the fact of the matter remains. my hard earned $$ goes towards cheap(relative) parts that are of quality. ive not had better, timely service from any of the many reputable vendors as i have from matt and the trail gear crew. id rather spend more money on camping gear, stuff for my kids and gas for the truck than ponder who did what to get where they are...frankly i dont find that its any of my business and could actually care less. im on the trail, my rig is built to be reliable and fun and im with my family.....im happy.
thanks for lookin! im not nearly done, but progress is steady as i work on it 8-16 hours each weekend.

ive always shortened the whelbase on my extrcab trucks(ive had 3 and 5 4runners)..this truck currently sits at 126ish in wheelbase. the front axle is moving back about 4 inches from what is seen in this pic(i just tacked stuff in place to get her to sit on all fours temporaily).
im trying to keep the truck low, sacrifcing some up travel in the suspension to do so. the frame rails at the facotry tranny crossmember are currently at about 26 1/2'' if i can keep that with 40'' tires ill be pleased to say the least

im fortunate enough to work for a lagre structural steel company. we build the metal skeletons of hospitals and school. i pay about $1.00-$1.50 a foot for the tubing and schedule 40 im using on this truck. the plate and bracketry material is free(its scrap). this makes the budget incredibly smaller than what would normally cost. in addition to materials i stay after work when the swing shift comes in to build the bumpers sliders, etc...(hydraulic tubing bender, 1/2'' shear, 12 foot press brake and punches....) if it wasnt for my job i dont know wow long it would take me to tackle this stuff at home with a plasma torch, manual bender and a grinder

its also good to have friends who are willing to help(especially female!!!) her you can see a great friend of mine trimming my fender wells with a pneumatic jig saw and a fine tooth blade. this eneded up working well. not as violent as a sawsall and cleaner(burnt paint) as the plasma torch. please note: the girl is working and the boys are relaxing drinking silver sodas

here is the foreWOman on this job, she is also very handy with wrenches and a grinder. she is in charge of cosmetics as well, so if something doesnt look good or the tubing is goofy, its her fault! she has been known to work topless. i can sell you some pics for the right price of her covered in gear oil and victorias secret undies!

since all these females are such diligent workers and skilled in there craftmenship, the boys get to sit around and drink beer while they work on the truck! i couldnt ask for a better crew :p

its not all fun and games though. this is the 86 4runner i recently finished and sold to a friend. he put his drivetrain in it as his 4runner was well, smashed up good, and ended up with a great rig...as you can see we work in safety gear and the appropriate clothing!

since i wheel with my kids(17 and 4) we gotta eat good on the trails. with fire restrictions in the summer and the mess of hauling a propane BBQ on the trial i came up with an unusual solution. i purchased a 2500 watt power invertor, a dual battery kit(AWESOME) from 12voltguy.com and a small microwave oven...with ice cold air conditioning, hot meals and an onboard shower in the future, well be camping in comfort even in far away places.

Awesome build up! Nice crew and nice words about TG.. I get spun up in a second when I read the BS on the forums. I've had nothing but the best of service and parts from them.
