I just purchased a 1988 Samurai with some pritty big tires (proally between 31's and 33's) and a lift and everything, it does not have power steering, I dont know much about it yet (havent played with it much), its not street legal, its strictly an off road vehicle, anyways I was driving it the other day and I noticed that the steering was very loose and the turning radius was very wide, especially when turning right (I think I bought it this was but did not notice it when I test drove it). The other day I drove it up on some logs and got stuck, something was hung up underneath it, when i got it off the pile I noticed that I could not steer right at all, left is fine. When I turn the wheel all the way to the right I can feel a slight grinding while I am turning the wheel but the tires just stay straight. Does anyone have a clue what this problem could be? Steering Gear Box possibily?

First off the lack of right hand steering is due to improper drag link work done by previous owner, as far as loss of steer all together im not quite sure, I've never stripped out a box I've broke a lot of joints but then you get no steer either way, where re you located?

I found out that the S shaped bar that goes form the steering box to the passenger side tire was bent. I did not realize that it was bent because when I would turn the steering wheel back to the straight position it would straighten the bar back out. Is that bar called the drag link? I have found several online but I am not sure how big our lift is, we have 33 inch tires on it. Does anyone know of a good quality part that will replace our old one even though I dont know how big the lift is. I am located in St. Louis.
