I have the kit version. There are so many easy tricks to make it work better. First invert the rodend on the rear upper drivers side to help eliminate the torque twist. On the lower links, notch the skid plate and move them inboard with countersinks or buttonheads so nothing snags.I built saddlepack sub-c batteries that sit on either side of the steering servo.I dont know whats in it but I run a 55turn lathe motor for lowend. The other thing is to narrow your wheels(cut and superglue),just wide enough for tape-a-weights in the center.I run 7.5ozs each front,3ozs each rear. Also be sure to star cut your tire foams(air down),and drill a couple small holes in the wheels to let air escape,or use memory foam like I do. I have managed to win three straight comps with this setup. You already have the Losi shocks I use, perfect balance between rideheight and bellypan clearance.I have found its an awsome low$ way to test suspension set up for my suzki-yota.Hope you have as much fun as my son and I!

cool, thanks for the advice. ill probably move the links in first. i dont have any uper links.

When you move the lower links inboard, get some longer 3mm allens, and move the shocks to the outside of the tabs on the axle. Be sure to space the links between the tabs, the tabs break if over tightened. The outboard mounting on the shocks makes it more stable on sidehills. If you can find longer links for the uppers, drill some holes farther forward on the chassis plate, weight transfer will be better, and it wont carry the right front as bad.

Working on a mirror image transmission to put more weight on the passenger side so it wont twist as much to the driver side. pics will be up within 30 minutes hopefully.

Forgot to tell you to counter sink the front c-hubs to allow more steering travel.I also spaced the tie rod up and moved the drag link up one hole.Same travel side to side but greater steering force, seems to work okay, and I haven't broke a stock knuckle. It also gained some aproach angle.

Thanks for the advice once again. ill move the links sometime soon.

Just looking at your upper shock mounts. Is there a ball from a rodend in there?I used some of the extras from the AXIAL kit and some small plastic spacers that I shaved on one side at an angle with an X-acto knife to make my own misalignment spacers.I've had luck with a small piece of rubber fuel line for a nitro rc.Really interested in how the tranny works.
88toyota
08-08-2008, 08:56 PM
ya, theres some round ones in there that dont stick out. the metals ones that came with it wont work because the screw is too big.

Another low$ trick I still use is on the yokes.Instead of the aluminum retainers from AXIAL or Venom,I found a small compression spring from NAPA,that will wrap around the yoke tightly and keep them from spreading.I's also alot lower profile than the aluminum ones(not as trick)but very affective.Still can't wait to get the real one back together from the suzuki to 22r/w56/2case conversion!

Probably 20 years.I got back into it so my son and I could race during the winter. When rccrawling started to take off we were hooked!Since then my friends have all got them, including a hustler 2.2 chassis and were finishing a clod axle hustler super right now.In fact our sept. comp is at my friends shop.He stacked a retaining wall that ranges from about 6ft to 20ft high, and about 100ft long.It has some of the coolest lines and wicked off camber climbs. From what I've seen of national comps It blows them away!

As far as the competition,We'll probably have 3 courses, and a bonus course.I think just my son will compete,I'll be a judge for this comp.I'll try to get some pictures soon.

Sorry so late to respond. My son is 12.It amaze's me how good he is with the rc.I'm a finesse kind of driver,He like's the throttle. But he's my best competition.By the way I like the course. We have been thinking of making our own Matterhorn like at supercrawl so you can wheel Farmington style!

gator71 what tires work best with slick rocks?
88toyota

umm. i heard my tires are suppost to be one of the best (losi claws)
gator71

I have run the Losi's alot and now I'm using Panther Cougars. The traction is better slightly with my lightweight rig, plus they are taller. The hardest part is finding a good foam combo. I run Proline memory in the rear cut in half with stock Axial foam sandwiched on either side. Same in front but I use the Panther memory foam. The Panthers are so soft with out it the tires would pull into every hole, and roll to much on sidehills. On the other hand heavier rigs work just as good with the Rock Claws. Can't wait to try the new Losi Rock Carvers when available.

Sorry I haven't been around.I've been building my own chassis for AX10's and TLT's.They work great.Lots of adjustment to get squat/anti-squat numbers where you like them, only 55mm wide to get through tight spots, double triangulation of 4-link to eliminate torque twist.Center is longer,so no need for bent links on the rear, and I've been making my links from Delrin rod so you get a little flex.I won our last two comps of the summer series by almost 40 points over second place. 88toyota pm me and I'll see if I can get one to you when they get back from the water jet shop!:::
