Due to customer requests, Trail-Gear will no longer be welding u-joints into our long spline drive shaft kits. From this point on, all drive shaft kits will ship with full circle retaining clips on the inside of each U-joint cap. Testing has shown that these retaining clips are just as secure as tack welding the cap in place. The clips have the added benefit of being easier to remove and replace. Below is a photo that shows one of four clips installed in each long spline drive shaft kit.

That's too bad cause I already ordered one from someone else. I really wanted your long travel drive shaft but did not buy one after my request of having clips instead of welds was denied. It's good that you have taken customers request.

That makes a lot more sense then welding them in.

I did both. I have broken a lot of drive lines in my junk and no matter who's drive line it is the failure is always with the caps rotating or coming off and the U joint getting loose in there and breaking everything.

The retainer rings are great, but with a tac weld on the caps too, I feel almost bullet proof.

I do understand why some people would find the weld intimadating or even unnessary.

Anyways the people spoke and we listened....this is a customer driven company.

Tatoo, I have run them tacked in also. But that was my choice not whom I bought it from.

I'm glad to see these... I've re-tacked the caps once already and they cracked again the next trip. Will previous owners of these shafts be eligible for free retaining rings from you guys or will they have to be purchased?

Thanks ~ Kevin
