a while back i installed a set of 6.5:1 t-case gears and have been hearing a whining sound.:no: ive had the case apart twice replacing bearings and seeing if there was a clearance issue but haven't seen any problems. the noise got quieter when new bearings were installed but still there.:sad2: also, apart from the whining sound, when i let off the gas there is a gear rattle sound, but when gas is applied the sound goes away and the whining persists.

any suggestions?

thanks guys :thumbs::thanks:

other than the noise, the gears work awesome. looking forward to bigger tires and more rocks!

Most times it is an alignment or shimming issue.

Drain the oil and look for signs of aluminum in the oil. If you see aluminum floating in the oil then you have a clearance problem between the case and the larger gears. The gears do shift a bit on their shafts as you get on and off the throttle, more so if the shimms are not set correctly.

Even through the case may look like it has enough clearance, it may still be rubbing slightly. If it is, there will be evidence in the oil after less then 100 miles.

Clean your drain out pan before you drain the case in it.
