Default door hinges

allright ive looked at the 4xinnovations hinges and maybe came up with an idea.

instead of spending the $75 on a pair of these why not just go to a hardware store and buy some of those "D" clips and cut out the old pin and put on of these in there?

anybody else had that idea? im just wondering if it would really work or not.

Yes it will work. If you are on PBB look in the FAQ thread, there are all sorts of ideas.

You're going to have a lot of slop in your hinges if you go this route.

Like oops said - there are few ideas on PBB that won't cost you anything and work better than anything else.

Agreed, I did the d-ring thing with my stock hinges and they were way too sloppy. I ended up putting a different set of stock hinges on and just slit the top hole of the door side of the hinge to slide on and off with the other bolt removed. You will see it over on Pirate. Works great.

I had the 4xinnovation hinges on my pickup, did the hing slot mod on my 4runner. The pins were a pain the the ass to deal with, but they did keep both sets of doors properly aligned. The hinge slot mod is quicker, though I do have to check that the doors are lined up each time I swap them around.

thanks guys. i did the d-rings on my drivers door. i figured out that if i keep the brass bushings from the factory in the hinges, it works allright. my only problem is one of the passenger bushings has broken and im havin a hard time finding a new one. any suggestions? oh and does anybody know where i can get some new body mounts? i have a 2 inch body lift that i dont want anymore.

you should be able to get the t case sticks from trail gear or marlin. im not really sure about the transmission stick, other than a dealership. maybe a parts place like napa or autozone???? thats if you want new. if you can settle for used than you should be able to get them from any pick and pull. are you going to add the 2 inches in to these? if not than i have a tcase stick if you want it. i THINK the thread is still good.

if you want it you can have it. free of charge. unless it costs alot to ship it. if it costs like 20-30 to ship i might ask for some money, just pm me your address and i will try to get it in the mail monday. i have the stock 4wd knob for it- do you want that too? the stick has the shaft boot (not the in cab dust boot though(sorry)) the spring and that parobolic cap, but not the snap ring- cant find that part. like i said if you want it pm me.. i will look around some of my buddies parts bins and see if they have another tcase or tranny stick.
