still not gonna cough up the roll over video huh John? We all watch racing for the crash not who wins so let us see it. Do you have a reason for the crash as in something failed structually or just driver error. Hard to believe either but what is the finger getting pointed at. I'm sure you guys are rusty from not driving for a little while so, that will always lead to a small mistake that could get ugly. show us how it went

Here is the summary:
Car: Not structural damage except for the rear most motor mount cracked.
Matt: I am fine.
John: Still hurting, going to the chiropractor.

Reasoning behind the crash:
After thinking about everything that happened before the crash here is what I have for you. We added a lot of weight to the rear of the car with the addition of the spare tire and coolers. We also went with lighter shock valving on the front shocks.

After all of the changes the car seemed to have a little more body roll and was generally loose in the rear (fish tailing more than usual). Basically I thought I would be get use to the new ride characteristcis of the car. For the most part I did adapt my driving to the way the car felt. The final change was to remove some air from the shocks to lower the car after the shocks were hot. After heating the shocks the car was sitting a little high creating even more body roll.

We ran the car for about 15 miles heating the shocks and had just run through a long set of woops, honestly everything felt great. We came out of the rough section into a long flat. We hit one woop in the flat and I beleive that the lower air pressure allowed the rear shocks to go to full compression causing the rear of the car to bounce off of the tire which caused the rear of the car to lift into the air. At that point I made an error by letting off the gas which stopped all flow thorugh the steering pump. I could not keep up with the steering and we barrell rolled twice landing on our wheel luckily.

The video is very good. Pinned TV would like to have the exclusive rights so that they can put it into the new KOH video...I still have the right to show the video, but I have not made any decisions yet.

That's It!

Matt

def glad to hear you are all alright. Hope you get over the accident John. Sounds like the car wasn't in race set up with the cold in the back. I guess these things happen. Just glad nobody was hurt bad. When is the next test run?

Going out to do some more testing today and this weekend. Here's what the newest iteration of lights and hood scoop look like.

Doing some race prep. Something seems to be missing, we just can't quite put our finger on it.

Yes! The milk crate is light weight, we are trying to shave a few pounds on the car before the race.

No problem...I want you to build me one. Is that something you could do? Let me know the cost.

Nice bit of engineering! Looks strong.
This might be a dumb Q, but is that lower link TIG welded?
