Default Trail-Gear Tacoma

Last week we took delivery of a 1998 Toyota Tacoma. We will be using this truck to add some additional Tacoma products. Bumpers and short bed sliders are first on the list of projects.

Here are some photos of the Tacoma in its stock trim....

Just an FYI, 98-00 Tacomas have a 3" longer front frame than the other years. Also the 95-97 tacomas use shorter rear springs. Other than that hope to see some great new products coming out.

Figures you guys are gonna start making Tacoma parts now that I picked up a 88 4 Runner

We have not started in on this yet. We have a number of other products ahead of the Tacoma that we will do first. We new we needed to develop Tacoma products and this truck came along at a great price so we bought it. We have been looking it over and made a list of items we want to start on.

Default 2005+ Tacomas

I was wondering if you guys had any plans for the 2005+ Tacomas? Although I'm sure you have a laundry list of stuff to accomplish for the older Tacoma you have in the shop.

I am moving to the Fresno area in January and would lend you my truck if needed.

The newer Tacoma's are on the list but we are so busy I am sure it will not happen soon. Thank you for the offer, we will take you up on it when we are ready.

Hi everybody, I was wondering if there is anything to watch out for when buying a 1998 tacoma 4x4 with 200,000 miles. Also is the mileage a big deal and how much would I be looking to pay for one in good condition. Thanks in advance

Very nice! I've been looking at Trail Gear for Tacoma parts. I'm glad you guys have one now so some more parts can be made for them. I can't wait to see what will be available. I will be waiting to purchase some stuff for my 99.

Front and Rear Bumpers have been designed. We just need to test fit the prototypes. best case scenario. 90 days out.

I think we should work on front and rear link kits and just forget about leaf springs all together.

Then I could test drive it at the hammers. lol

We are working on a link kit now, I am not sure on price, but we usually offer more for less, I think this kit will stick to those principles.

well thats cool, but your response really didn't answer my question if anyone has used your kit on a taco already. As far as the kit is right now, im having decent luck. The taco frame rails aren't nearly as wide and have to cut the boxing out to get crossmember to fit inside frame rails. So far it looks like the only cutting of the bed that i have to do is for my coilovers, the crossmember actually sits just about an inch below the bed mounting tabs. The rock assault truss was an easy modification, just a little grinding, and drilling a hole on the left side for the breather.

The one thing i am running in to is my links are going to be super short, but the link calculator gave me some decent numbers with links that short, so im going to run with it once my creeper joints get here.

If you guys have any tech advice i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.
