Default Non Taco Springs on a Taco

For those who have put non-taco springs on a taco, what all has to be done? My current springs are 56 inches long which I think are the same length as the non-taco springs. Any thoughts? My current 5 inch springs are not giving 5 inches of lift and I will need some new ones. I would like to link the rear, but I have never done that before and have no idea where to start.

Thanks,
Tim

On our 1998 Tacoma we are looking at installing new rear shackle hangers 2" back from stock and then installing a set of our 56" rear springs.
